Solid Wood

We typically use solid wood for our furniture. You speak of solid wood when the material is cut out of the stem in one piece. The stem is sawed into boards, beams or battens which are then jointed and planed. In furniture construction we process the planed solid wood parts by drilling, milling and sanding. The natural structure of the wood remains intact during all this.

Solid wood is strictly a natural product. When a piece of solid wood furniture is placed in a particularly humid or dry place, the wood can »work« – that is it can bend a little or crack slightly. This too is natural and must be considered a characteristic property of the material. We only use wood from sustainable forestry.
