When you cut solid wood into layers you get veneer. The sheets are extremely thin, between 0.6 and 3 millimetres thick. For our furniture we use veneers, for example for the production of bent wood parts like the seat of Profile Chair or the structure of Frame Seat. To make those parts, real wood veneer is treated with wood glue and then pressed and left to dry in a shaped mould.

The use of veneers for the production of bent wood parts makes sense because it helps us to avoid waste. If you were to cut those parts from solid wood the bigger portion of the valuable material would be wasted. The use of veneer is much more resource-efficient. Our material comes from sustainable forestry and is supplied by Heinrich Wehmeyer GmbH & Co KG in Havixbeck.
